80 000 words into 16 languages within a month
The Challenge
Our client, an online seller of fashion clothing, accessories and textiles, needed their website translating into 16 languages within the month. The website consisted of ~ 80 000 words and the requested languages were: Belarusian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Estonian, Finnish, Greek, Hungarian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Norwegian, Polish, Romanian, Slovak, Slovenian and Swedish.
For reasons of consistency in translation, style and terminology, only one linguist per language was assigned for the translation. However, as the daily output for a professional linguist is generally ~ 2000 words, a total of 40 business days would normally be needed (instead of the requested 20 days) to complete this job on time.
Furthermore, extra time for exporting/importing, formatting and programming of website content was required.
